BC Camp Choice Society – Opening Up Possibilities for the Youth
No matter how difficult you think your life is, there is always someone who has to confront challenges far tougher than yours. The obstacles could be as basic as getting enough food to eat, finding a place to sleep at night, or living a regular life with a positive outlook for the future. You do not have to look far to uncover these societal issues, such is the case with at-risk youth in our own communities. There are hundreds of children from various schools and neighbourhoods that are faced with the risk of drug use, alcohol abuse, self-harm, and even suicide. They have to deal with adult situations and choices every day inhibiting them from living a normal life. Thankfully, these problems can be prevented.
BC Camp Choice Society is a registered not-for-profit entity that was originally established in San Francisco 20 years ago with a long history of success but was later brought into British Columbia. The mission of the organization is to empower the youth in local communities with the ability to create positive change in themselves and the community around them by focusing on five key areas: leadership, respect, teamwork, responsibility, and courage. Their primary approach is to identify children from the local area that would benefit most from the camp. Around 40-60 kids are given the opportunity to work together on physical and mental activities, creative projects, and other expressive performances. As a result, the children are able to build lasting friendships, develop hope for the future, and foster the desire for change while being just a kid.
The value BC Camp Choice provides to the society is meaningful and impactful. I believe each person should leave the world a little better than how they found it, which is why a portion of my commission on every deal is donated to the organization. You can do your part too by donating through their website at www.campchoicebc.com
